Why do you have two separate calculators? And which one do I choose?

The Support at Home program has different income bands and asset thresholds for people who are single or a couple. I created two separate calculators because the formulas are too hard to put into one calculator.

I haven’t made a calculator yet for someone who is single and not a homeowner, and for couples who are not homeowners (they have different income thresholds again) - these will come soon!

What is the Support at Home Program, and what happened to Home Care Packages?

The Australian government is replacing the Home Care Package program with the Support at Home Program. This program has eight levels of funding that replace the four HCP levels. Another key change is that all Support at Home consumers will have to pay the following minimum fees:

  • Independence Living services will have a minimum 5% co-contribution, that increases based on the income test.

  • Everyday Living services will have a minimum 17.5% co-contribution, that increases based on the income test.
